What is Foladin used for?

Foladin is an anti-anemic vitamin used for the treatment and prevention of folate deficiency. It is also given to women of child-bearing potential and to pregnant women to protect against neural tube defects in their offspring.

How much and how often should Foladin be taken?

To treat folate-deficient anemia, Foladin is taken at 1 tablet once a day for 4 months. For prevention of neural tube defects in the offspring of pregnant women and women of child-bearing potential, Foladin is taken at 1 tablet daily starting before pregnancy and continued through the first trimester.

What are the possible side effects of Foladin?

Foladin is generally well tolerated but gastrointestinal disturbances and allergic reactions have been reported rarely.
