What is Depamax used for?

Depamax is an anticonvulsant drug used for the treatment of seizure disorders.

How much and how often should Depamax be taken?

Depamax is an extended-release product intended for once-a-day oral administration. The tablet should be swallowed whole and should not be crushed or chewed.

For Mania: Initial dose is 25 mg/kg/day up to a maximum of 60 mg/kg/day.

For Complex Partial Seizures: Start dose at 10 to 15 mg/kg/day, up to maximum dose of 60 mg/kg/day.

For Absence Seizures: Start dose at 15 mg/kg/day, up to a maximum of 60 mg/kg/day.

For Migraine: The recommended dose is 500 mg/day up to 1000 mg/day.

What are the possible side effects of Depamax?

Most frequent side effects of Depamax are gastrointestinal disturbances, increased appetite and weight gain. Less frequent side effects are edema, headache and decreased platelet count. Extrapyramidal symptoms have occurred on rare occasions.

What does Depamax pack contain?

Depamax is valproic acid 250 mg Extended-Release tablet available in blister pack of 10’s in a box of 10’s and 500 mg Extended-Release tablet available in blister pack of 10’s in a box of 10’s.
