Ano nga ba ang Hyperthyroidism?

Ang hyperthyroidism ay isang uri ng thyroid disorder that is also known as an overactive thyroid. Ito ay isang kondisyon kung saan ang thyroid gland ay gumagawa ng thyroid hormone na higit sa kailangan ng katawan. This overproduction of hormones can result in serious health complications kung hindi agarang magagamot nang wasto.

Ang thyroid gland, though small in size, plays a big role in keeping the body healthy and functioning. The hormones it produces help regulate essential bodily functions na gaya ng metabolism, heart rate, and body temperature. For these body processes to work properly and effectively, the thyroid must release the right amount of hormones—hindi kulang at hindi rin dapat sobra.

  • Sometimes the thyroid becomes hyperactive and produces more hormones than the body needs. This condition is called hyperthyroidism.

Ang pagpili ng tamang treatment ay magdedepende sa symptoms, age and overall health ng pasyente; and also, on the underlying cause of the condition at sa kung gaano kalubha ito. It is important for patients and their families to learn as much as they can about the disorder and treatment options, and to discuss them thoroughly with their doctors. Kinakailangan ang todo aruga sa thyroid upang masiguro na ang mga pasyente can live better lives while dealing with this condition.

All three options would be effective in the treatment of Graves’ disease—an autoimmune disorder—which is the most common cause of hyperthyroidism. Hyperthyroidism medications such as Carbimazole (NEOMERDIN®) and Methimazole (TAPDIN®) are often considered as first-line treatments. These thionamides or antithyroid drugs normalize thyroid hormone levels and are used for the preparation of hyperthyroid patients for thyroidectomy, and as an adjunct to radioiodine therapy and the treatment of thyroid storm.
