What is Dafgludin used for?

Dapagliflozin and metformin HCl extended release (Dafgludin) is used as a supplement to diet and exercise to help adults and children with type 2 diabetes mellitus who are 10 years of age or older achieve better glycemic control.

How much and how often should Dafgludin be taken?

Dapagliflozin and metformin HCl (Dafgludin) is recommended to be taken orally in the morning with some food and swallow whole. For patients 10 years and older who are not taking dapagliflozin, starting dose of 5 mg once daily is advised. The recommended dose for individuals with heart failure or chronic renal disease is 10 mg once a day. The maximum recommended dose of 10 mg dapagliflozin and 2,000 mg metformin HCl extended-release may be exc.eeded, however dosage may be changed based on effectiveness and tolerability

What are the possible adverse reactions of Dafgludin?

Dafgludin may cause lactic acidosis and diabetic ketoacidosis in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus and other ketoacidoses. Other adverse reactions include urosepsis and pyelonephritis, volume depletion, hypoglycemia with concomitant use of insulin, Fournier’s gangrene and genital mycotic infections.
